How 2025 income tax works

Canada taxes income in brackets: each rate applies only to the income inside its bracket. You pay federal tax plus tax to the province you lived in on December 31, 2025, after the basic personal amount and other credits.

For 2025 the lowest federal rate is a blended 14.5% (15% until June 30, 14% from July 1). See every bracket on the 2025 tax brackets page, or estimate your refund with the tax refund calculator.
