RRSP deadlines by tax year

You can deduct contributions made during the year and in the first 60 days of the next year. For the 2026 tax year the deadline is March 1, 2027. For the 2025 tax year it was March 2, 2026 (March 1 fell on a Sunday).

Contributions after the deadline still count, just for the next tax year. You don't have to deduct a contribution right away: you can carry the deduction forward to a year when your income, and your tax rate, is higher.

See the refund your contribution creates with the RRSP calculator and your total refund with the tax refund calculator. The year you turn 71 is different: your deadline is December 31 of that year.
