Detailed Walkthrough
Your GST/HST return, already added up
Filing GST/HST is simple once your numbers are in one place: the tax you collected, minus the tax you paid on business expenses. This free worksheet keeps both logs and gives you the numbers for each line of the return.
What you'll fill in on the return
- Line 101: sales and other revenue
- Line 103: GST/HST collected or collectible
- Line 106: input tax credits (ITCs)
- Line 109: net tax: positive means you owe, negative means a refund
Good to know
You must register once your taxable sales pass $30,000 in four consecutive calendar quarters. To claim ITCs, keep receipts that show the supplier's GST/HST number for purchases of $100 or more. In Quebec, the QST is filed separately with Revenu Québec, so the worksheet uses the 5% GST there.

What are input tax credits?

Does it work in Google Sheets and on a Mac?
Yes. It is an Excel workbook (.xlsx) that opens in Excel for Windows and Mac, Apple Numbers, and Google Sheets (upload it to Drive, then open with Google Sheets). Formulas recalculate as you type.
