T4 · Statement of Remuneration Paid
T4 box 14: employment income
Your employer issues a T4 for every job you had during the year, by the end of February.
- What it is
- Your total pay for the year before any deductions: salary, wages, bonuses, vacation pay, commissions and taxable benefits.
- Where it goes on your return
- Enter it on line 10100 of your return.
- How it affects your refund
- Box 14 is the starting point for your tax. The tax actually withheld (box 22) is compared with the tax owed on this income to work out your refund.
- Taxable benefits in box 40 and commissions in box 42 are already included in box 14, so don't add them again.
- Box 14 is gross pay, so it's higher than the total of your pay stubs' net amounts.
- If you had several jobs, add up box 14 from every T4.
